Crime Log: Rossmoor traffic stop nets four theft suspects and stolen property

By Charles M. Kelly and Ted Apodaca

Orange County Sheriff’s Department deputies arrested four theft suspects during the early morning hours of Monday, Dec. 2 following a traffic stop in Rossmoor.

The case began at about 2:15 a.m., according to Sheriff’s Department Lt. Robert Gunzel, when a deputy stopped a car in Rossmoor. While investigating, the deputy connected the suspect’s car to a second car—an unreported stolen car belonging to a Long Beach resident.

According to Gunzel, both cars contained stolen property, including some property taken in at least one Rossmoor car burglary. Gunzel said the property was returned to its owner.

The investigation resulted in the arrests of two adults and two minors. “Great job by the deputies,” Gunzel said.

One adult suspect was identified by the Sheriff’s Department website as Rafael Arturo Morales, 21. As of 11:30 a.m., Monday, Dec. 2, he was still listed in custody at the Orange County Jail. Bail was set at $20,000.
