Special Olympics torch to pass through Seal Beach

The Law Enforcement Torch Run for the Special Olympics will pass through Seal Beach on Friday, June 7. Chief Joe Stilinovich will run with a Special Olympian and several Seal Beach Police Department staff members as the torch arrives at Pacific Coast Highway and Anderson Street. The torch is expected to arrive between 2 and 3 p.m.

The torch will pass through Seal Beach on Pacific Coast Highway to 12TH Street and from there the procession will run down to Ocean Avenue before continuing to Main Street. The torch will go up Main Street, back to Pacific Coast Highway until it gets passed to the California Highway Patrol at Pacific Coast Highway and 1ST Street. The route is about 3 miles.

The torch run is the Special Olympics movement’s largest and most successful grass-roots fundraiser and awareness builder. The Special Olympic Summer Games will be ehld held at Cal State Long Beach June 8-9.
