For the 20th time, kids and their families across Southern California are invited to attend the Annual Seal Beach Fishing Derby on the Seal Beach Pier on Saturday, Aug. 27, thanks to the Los Alamitos/Seal Beach Rotary Club, which is sponsoring the event and providing trophies and prizes for the largest fish caught.

Registration will be free of charge for youths 15 and under. The event also provides free refreshments, free bait and free loaner tackle for those who need it.

Check in for the derby begins at 7 a.m. and runs until 9 a.m.  The fishing derby begins at 7:30 a.m. and will end at noon with the presentation of prizes.  Anglers are welcome to bring their favorite fishing poles. However, UASC volunteers will be providing loaner rods/reels for those who need them.

This year’s event is being co-sponsored by United Anglers of Southern California, who will be staffing the event with volunteers and angling advisors to assist the youngsters.
