Hoodlums rob teens in Los Alamitos

Two adults assault four teens in three attacks.

Two young adults mugged four 15-year-olds in Los Alamitos during three separate robberies on Thursday afternoon, Jan. 19. The victims were walking home from school when they were attacked, according to the Los Alamitos Police Department.

The suspects were described as young adult, black men. Their victims were both male and female.

The robberies occurred between 2:45 and 3:05 p.m.

The first robbery apparently occurred on Bloomfield Street near Florista Street. The victim, a 15-year-old boy, was walking south on Bloomfield when the two suspects approached him.  One suspect made a gesture as if he had a weapon in his jacket. The suspect demanded that victim one hand over his cell phone and other property.

The second victim was a 15-year-old girl who witnessed the robbery from a few yards away. Unfortunately, the robbers also saw her and ordered her to come over to them. She did as she was told. They ordered her to give up her cell phone, which one of the criminals snatched from her hands.

The thieves returned the phone when they realized it didn’t work. Then the thieves left on foot, traveling north on Bloomfield Street.

Victims three and four, a boy and a girl, both 15, were robbed near the intersection of Sausalito and Walnut streets. They approached victim three, a boy, the same way they had approached the first victim and made essentially the same demands. They asked victim three if he was a gang member and slapped him before he gave up his wallet, cell phone and iPod.

The girl was shoved against a car and fondled her breasts. The suspects fled on foot.

The first suspect was described as 18-years-old, 5 feet 7 to 10 inches tall, with a medium build. His complexion was dark, with short black hair and a goatee.  He was last seen wearing a dark colored jacket with white lettering; dark, baggy jeans and sneakers. He also wore an earring and had a tattoo on his neck.

The second man was described as being in his 20s, 6 feet 1 to 2 inches tall, skinny, with short hair. He wore a dark shirt, dark blue jeans and a dark hooded sweatshirt.

Police are also looking for a car that was seen near Sausalito and Walnut during the third robbery. The driver was described as a heavyset black  woman. A black man with dreadlocks may have been a passenger. Police do not know if the car or its occupants were involved in the muggings, but based on the location and circumstances investigators think it is likely.

Police are asking anyone with information about these crimes to call (562) 431-2255, extension 420.
