Police arrest child abduction suspect

Seal Beach Police officers on Sunday, Aug. 21, arrested an adult man, identifying himself as David Pitts from Long Beach, on suspicion of abducting his 7-year-old son.

At 7:10 a.m., officers responded a family disturbance call on the 13000 block of Leisure World’s Alderwood Lane. Upon arrival, officers were informed that Pitts had entered the home in an attempt to kidnap his 7-year-old son, who lives at the location with his grandmother.  Pitts fled the home before police arrived, but was located nearby and detained.

According to police, Pitts had entered the location several hours earlier and took his son against the boy’s will.  Pitts and his son were found walking by Leisure World security and the child was returned to his grandmother unharmed.  Pitts returned a few hours later and attempted to take his son a second time, it was then that the police were summoned.
