Woman hit and killed by motorist

A woman died in Seal Beach on Sunday night, Feb. 5, after she was accidentally struck by a car as she jaywalked across the street. The driver was released after being interviewed by the police. The Seal Beach Police Department responded to the reported collision at 8:49 p.m. that night.

The Huntington Beach Fire Department and the Huntington Beach Police Department also responded. After attempting lifesaving measures, Huntington Beach paramedics determined that the woman had died after succumbing to her injuries. The victim’s identity has not been released pending next of kin notification.

The driver of the vehicle was interviewed, transported to the Seal Beach Police Department for further investigation and later released. It was determined the driver had not been drinking.

Witnesses said the pedestrian was attempting to cross PCH outside of a sidewalk or controlled intersection.

The multi-agency Serious Traffic Accident Response Team responded to the collision and is conducting the investigation. STAR is comprised of officers of the Seal Beach, Los Alamitos, Cypress, and La Palma police departments.
