Two Old Town Seal Beach homes burglarized

Two Seal Beach Old Town homes were burglarized Wednesday night, Aug. 29, said the Seal Beach Police Department in a statement issued Friday, Aug. 31.

The suspect (or suspects) in both cases cut the window screens of opened residential windows, reached through the cut screen, and stole items that were located near the window.

Police urged residents throughout Seal Beach to take safeguards to against this type of criminal activity.

According to the police, burglaries such as the Old Town break-ins are likely to occur during unseasonably hot weather when residents leave their windows open at night to cool their homes.

The official police statement advised residents to  find other ways to cool their homes and to secure their valuables so that they are not readily accessible to opportunistic criminals.
