Ted Apodaca named new editor of the Sun and Catalina Islander

Ted Apodaca

Orange County Neighborhood Newspapers Inc., the parent company of the Sun Newspapers and The Catalina Islander is making a change in the editorial staffing of the newspapers, Group Publisher Steven Remery announced on Monday.

Ted Apodaca, will be taking over the editor position for the Sun Newspapers and Catalina Islander, effective immediately.

Apodaca replaces David N. Young, who has assumed a different editorial role within the company.

Apodaca has been editor of the Event-News Enterprise since January, and will now work with Associate Editor Charles M. Kelly to become a strong voice for the communities served by the Sun and Catalina Islander. Prior to returning to the Event-News Enterprise, Apodaca spent about two-and-a-half years covering sports and other issues in the Sun Region area.

The Sun and Catalina Islander will seek to better use their growing social media assets to more quickly inform residents, but will rely on the two papers’ longstanding reputation to keep their readers informed.

Apodaca, an occassional runner, is looking forward to running in the 2019 Run Seal Beach event.
