Special Olympics Torch returns to Seal Beach

The members of the Law Enforcement Torch Run® Final Leg team for the 2015 Special Olympic World Games in Los Angeles brought the game torch through Seal Beach Monday, July 20. Seen here are Seal Beach Police Sgt. John Scott, Chief Joe Stilinovich, Lisa Hampton of Final Leg Team No. 5, and three Special Olympics athletes. Chief Stilinovich said that one of the reasons law enforcement supports the Special Olympics is that “Cops need heroes, too, and these athletes are our heroes.”  Athletes took turns holding up the torch as speakers addressed the community members who gathered in Eisenhower Park on Monday evening.
