Seal Beach Police arrest man on suspicion of check fraud

On Tuesday morning, Aug. 11, at approximately 9:55 a.m., Seal Beach Police detectives arrested Michael Anthony Wieczorek, 44, out of Florence, California on suspicion of check fraud. Police accuse Wieczorek is accused of of eight fraudulent check offenses that occurred at the Seal Beach Target at 12300 Seal Beach Blvd., starting from July 1 and continuing into August. Police say Target lost more than $2,700.

The arrest took place during a vehicle stop at on South Main Street, in Carson. Police believe Wieczorek has created and passed more than 50 fraudulent checks throughout both Orange and Los Angeles counties.

Detectives will ask the Orange County District Attorney’s Office’s to file the following charges: Penal Code 530.5–Identity Theft; Penal Code 496(A)–Possession of Stolen Property; Penal Code 476–Check Fraud; Penal Code 487–Grand Theft; and Health and Safety Code 11377(A)–Possession of Methamphetamines
