Seal Beach council leaves yearly business license fees at $207

Councilman Michael Levitt

Seal Beach business licenses will cost as much this year as they did last year.

On Monday, April 26, an item on the Seal Beach City Council consent calendar proposed raising business license fees to $210. District 5 Councilman Michael Levitt pulled the item from the consent calendar to discuss the issue. Staff recommended adjusting the fee upward by $3 based on the Consumer Price Index.

Levitt pointed out that his pension from the city of Los Angeles did not increase based on the CPI. Director of Administrative Services Robbeyn Bird said the CPI came out monthly and it was possible that the month Los Angeles considered pension benefits the CPI was flat or negative.

Levitt suggested leaving the Seal Beach business license fees at $207. His fellow council members agreed.
