SBPD investigating serious traffic collision in Leisure World

An elderly man riding a mobility scooter sustained severe injuries after being struck by a motor vehicle late afternoon Wednesday. Police report that the driver is cooperating with the investigation.

 

On Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2021, at about 3:38 p.m., the Seal Beach Police Department received a call traffic collision involving a vehicle and an individual on a motorized mobility scooter. The collision occurred near the intersection of St. Andrews Drive and Church Place located within the Leisure World Community.

 

The initial investigation revealed that an elderly man was riding a mobility scooter when he was struck by a passing vehicle. The elderly man sustained severe injuries and was transported to a local trauma center for treatment. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. No other vehicles or pedestrians were involved, and the driver of the vehicle was uninjured.
