SB city officials give 2013 forecast: Mayor Gary Miller

The Sun recently asked various city officials one question: What opportunities and challenges do you see ahead for Seal Beach in 2013?

The Sun asked the question by either e-mail or phone.

Mayor Gary Miller, who represents District Four, declined to answer. What he did say was: “As City Manager Jill Ingram has advised you, the council and staff will be discussing opportunities and challenges for Seal Beach during the annual council goal setting workshop to identify priorities to be incorporated in the FY 2013-14 Budget.”

Miller’s statement declining comment came after the Sun e-mailed him the survey question a second time. Miller’s final response followed a third e-mail from the Sun.

Miller sent his response to the third Sun e-mail on Tuesday morning, Jan. 15, after this story had been filed for the print edition of the Sun:

“I see I sent my email to (City Manager) Jill (Ingram) to you.  It was decided our best response to the Sun’s request would come after our goal setting workshop.  Therefore, I was surprised some council members responded to the Sun.  Before we have the workshop, we can only respond with our individual desires which would not necessarily be the goals of the city.  The best we can do before the workshop is to outline what the City currently plans to accomplish in 2013.”
