Homes on the tour include:

The Diaz Home—3191 Ruth Elaine

The home of Maria Teresa and Gustava Diaz is a 4,500 sq. ft. mid-century modern home completely rebuilt in 2009 by Nathan Low of Maverick Construction.  Mr. Diaz, a retired architectural designer, designed the home to be reminiscent of the homes which were the rage in Havana at the time the Diaz family left Cuba.  The home is light, open, and airy with lots of architectural detail.  The foyer is an introduction to the artistic tastes of the owners.  Mr. Diaz is an artist and Mrs. Diaz is an opera singer.  The home represents their love of music and the art world.  Their art collections come from all over the world particularly Africa, Spain, and Cuba.

The Alonso Home—2631 Piedmont

The home of Linda and Rosalio Alonso is a 5,250 sq. ft. Mediterranean style house built by Rosalio Alonso of Alfa Builders, who is also the home owner.  Matt Jones of Elbert Elsworth Design originally selected the color scheme for the home.  This impressive and unique home displays beautiful stone, glass tile, granite, carved onyx, marble, and travertine throughout.  The lighting fixtures are breathtaking.  The home has an open-concept design and the great room opens out to an opulent pool and entertaining area where carved onyx and marble sculptures are strategically placed within the landscape.  The home has 5 bedrooms; each with its own bath.

The Locke Home—3331 Rowena

The Locke family lives in this lovely neo-modern home built by contractor Jamie Macrew and Decorated by Michael Streit of California Designs.  This home features an open-concept floor plan.  You enter through an outdoor courtyard which opens to the living room and dining room.  A wall of windows across the back of the living room and kitchen provide a spacious view of the pool and backyard.  The three bedrooms and office are arranged into three distinct areas.  A massive slate fireplace is a prominent feature of the family/pool room.  The home has a monochromatic color scheme which is enhanced by the beautiful grey hardwood floors.

Low Family Home—2952 Copa De Oro

The Nathan and Janet Low home is a 4,800 sq. ft. traditional style house which was completely rebuilt by Mr. Low’s company, Maverick Construction, in 2007.  The home has 5 bedrooms and 4 baths.  This home is especially designed for a young family to enjoy.  The floors are beautiful travertine and the family room and kitchen are the open-concept design with granite countertops and a beautiful stone fireplace in the family room.  Mr. Low, President of Denali Solar, has made a special offer to our community.  Denali Solar will offer $500 off and $500 donated to any Los Alamitos school by installing a solar P.V. system with Denali Solar before February 1, 2011.
