fire damaged a unit on Oakmont Road in Seal Beach Leisure World Monday morning, June 24

Golden Rain Foundation Executive Director Randy Ankeny confirmed that the fire had occurred. Ankeny said no one was injured. He said the Orange County Fire Authority was still investigating the fire. He said the unit that was damaged by the fire would not be occupied until the Fire Authority released it.

“Three neighboring units have likely suffered heavy smoke damage and may not be inhabitable for at least a week,” said Dave Lyon, who lives in Leisure World.

Ankeny said the initial call reporting the fire came in at 9:20 a.m.

“Firefighters of the Orange County Fire Authority had the blaze contained by 11 a.m. Monday morning,” said Lyon.

Ankeny thanked the Fire Authority and the Seal Beach Police Department for their quick response. He said the two agencies did a fantastic job.
