Six Orange County Divers qualified for the 2010 CIF Championships at the Sunset League’s first qualifying meet held at Los Alamitos High School this week.
Newport Harbor High School Junior, Clay Pinckney, led the meet with a high score of 525.40. Sydney Czaus, a Los Alamitos High School Junior, led the girls with 503. Two Sunset League schools had both a boy and a girl qualify for CIF. Los Alamitos High School Sophomore, Adam Payne finished second and qualified for the boys. The third boy to qualify is Collin Lindsey a Senior from Fountain Valley High. Sophomore, Erica Curry, also from Fountain Valley qualified with a second place finish for the girls. Edison High School Junior Kaylie Higa rounded out the field of six qualifiers.
To qualify for CIF Division 1 Championships, divers need to complete eleven dives from the five different dive groups, forward, backward, reverse, inward and twisting and achieve a total point score of 300 points or higher. Sunset League Varsity Divers have four more qualifying meets at Los Alamitos High School before the Division 1 Championships May 13th at Fullerton College.
