Editor’s note: Information in the Crime Log is based on information provided by the Seal Beach Police Department. Logs provided by the SBPD average approximatley 30 pages per each day. Space may not permit the listing of every incident provided in the log.

Thursday, July 26
Suspicious Occupied Car (Priority 2)—7 a.m.—Street—Police were advised that two individuals were sleeping in a parked truck. Police unit 107 responded and S24 was available for back up. Police apparently advised/warned/counseled the two against sleeping in the truck. Response time: 9 minutes 52 seconds.
Petty Theft (Priority 2)—12:14 p.m.—Seal Beach Boulevard—The caller reported a man running on foot, fleeing the location. As of 12:17 p.m., the man was apparently seen eating. As of that time, police learned that the loss was orange juice and various food products. The suspect was last seen going northbound on Los Alamitos Boulevard in the direction of Katella. The caller did not desire a report. Police unit 106 responded and unit 107 was available for back up. Response time: 2 minutes 7 seconds.
Car Burglary (Priority 3)—1:04 p.m.—College Park Drive—The caller reported a car burglary that took place between 6:30 a.m., Wednesday July 25, and the time of the call to police. The log did not include the nature or value of the stolen property. Police unit 106 responded alone to the call. Report taken. Response time: 10 minutes 59 seconds.
Petty Theft Report (Priority 1)—3:18 p.m.—Church Place (Leisure World, Mutual 1)—The caller said someone took the caller’s identification and some cash sometime in the previous few days. The caller wasn’t sure where the theft occurred. Report taken. Police unit 106 handled the call alone. Response time: 18 minutes 35 seconds.

Friday, July 27
Petty Theft (Priority 2)—12:45 p.m.—Seal Beach Boulevard—The caller reported two individuals had stolen property. The caller said a woman tried to stop them. They both chest-bumped her and threatened to assault her. They also threatened to assault the caller. The loss was unnown at the time of the call. Police units M6 and S24 responded. Police unit 107 was en route at 12:56 p.m., but did not arrive and was apparently not needed. Police were unable to locate the suspects. Police unit S24 determined they left in a Mercedes. Police unit M6 told dispatch they were unable to confirm a crime had occurred. Response time: 12 minutes 24 seconds.
Pedestrian Check (Priority 3)—10:16 p.m.—Main Street—Police unit 207 stopped and checked a pedestrain. Based on a warrant, police arrested Monic Arreola on suspicion of driving with a suspended or revoked license and suspicion of failure to show proof of car insurance.

Saturday, July 28
Petty Theft Report (Priority 3)—12:40 p.m.—Main Street—The caller reported the loss of a back pack sometime the previous night. The caller requested an officer contact the caller at home. However, by 12:55 p.m., the caller’s backpack had been found—at home. No police units responded.
Battery Report (Priority 3)—1:11 p.m.—Seal Beach Boulevard—The caller and the caller’s brother apparently had an argument. The caller’s brother reportedly assaulted the caller. By 1:13 p.m., the caller’s brother had left. The caller declined medical attention. Report taken. Police unit 141 responded alone. Response time: 13 minutes 47 seconds.

Sunday, July 29
Counseling (Priority 3)—1:56 p.m.—First Street—The caller said someone had been pouring water on him when he goes outside to smoke. On July 29, the unknown suspect reportedly poured soup on him. No known witnesses. The caller did not see the suspect. Police unit 107 responded alone. Caller counseled. Response time: 22 minutes 45 seconds.
Counseling (Priority 3)—3:12 p.m.—Driftwood Avenue (The Hill)—The caller found what she believed to be burn marks on the window to her home. Police unit 107, which responded alone, determined the so-called burn marks were an accumulation of outdoor dust. Response time: 4 minutes 30 seconds.

Monday, July 30
Disturbance, Noise (Priority 3)—6:36 a.m.—Montecito Road—An anonymous caller reported that an elevator work crew was working in the lobby of the building. The caller said the homeowners association had advised them in the past that they cannot start work until 8 a.m.
Police unit 106 responded to the call alone and apparently advised/warned/counseled the work crew about the Seal Beach Municipal Code. Response time: 41 minutes 2 seconds.
Car Burglary (Priority 3)—5:21 p.m.—First Street—The caller said sometime between 3:45 p.m., Sunday, July 29, and the time of the call to police, someone broke into the caller’s locked car and stole a computer, a briefcase and an iPad. According to the caller, there was no sign of forced entry. Police unit 207 responded alone and took a report. Response time: 1 hour and 10 seconds.
Traffic Stop (Priority 4)—8:24 p.m.—Seal Beach Boulevard and Northbound 405 Freeway—Police unit 206 stopped a car. At 8:26 p.m.., unit 206 observed a man in the car reaching down toward the passenger seat. Police units 207, 241 and S22 joined unit 206. One individual was detained. Police arrested Nathan Vonzelle Hodge on suspicion of resisting an officer and based on a warrant also arrested him on suspicion of driving without a valid driver’s license.

Tuesday, July 31
Suspicious Occupied Car (Priority 2)—12:33 a.m.—Ocean Avenue—Police unit 241 contacted the occupants of a car, detaining six individuals in the First Street beach parking lot. Juveniles were detained for alcohol violations. As of 12:37 a.m., their parents were en route to the scene.
As of 1:04 a.m., the juveniles had been released to their parents. Police unit 207 assisted unit 241. No response time was provided in the log as unit 207 was apparently at or near the location.
Baby Locked in Car (Priority 2)—3:03 p.m.—Seal Beach Boulevard—The caller said the caller’s 15-month-old son was locked inside a car. By 3:06 p.m., a tow truck had been dispatched. By 3:16 p.m., the tow truck was on the scene and the baby was out of the car. Police unit 106 responded alone. Response time: 9 minutes 51 seconds.
Overdose (Priority 1)—7:28 p.m.—Seal Beach Boulevard—The caller reported that a customer was possibly overdosing. As of 7:30 p.m., the Orange County Fire Authority was en route. The caller hung up. As of 7:32 p.m., dispatch was back on line with the caller. The customer in question was coming in and out of consciousness. He was reportedly huffing an aerosol. As of 7:33 p.m., the customer was traveling on foot going northbound. Police unit 241, responding alone, was unable to locate him. Response time: 5 minutes 57 seconds.
