As a result of Seal Beach Police Chief Joe Miller’s retirement, the following personnel have been promoted:
• Commander Phil Gonshak to Chief of Police
• Operations Administrative Sergeant Michael Henderson to Operations Bureau Commander and West County SWAT team Commander
• Sergeant Nick Nicholas to Operations Administrative Sergeant / Press Information Officer
• Corporal Eric Hendry to Patrol Sergeant
• Detective Pete Krok to Patrol Corporal
• Officer Garrett Kiehl has been assigned as an Operator on the West County SWAT team
• An officer has been assigned to a narcotics taskforce
These promotions have created a vacant police officer position.
The SBPD is currently testing for this position and expect to hire another officer within the next few weeks.
