The Seal Beach City Council on Sept. 12 unanimously approved the appointment of Alexandria Van Voris to the Citizen-Council Olympic Advisory Committee.

District Two Councilman Ben Wong described her as the perfect person to fill a vacant spot on the committee.

Alexandria Van Voris.

He said her enthusiasm and smile were infectious.

“The Clerk’s Office received Rick Lee’s resignation from the Citizen-Council Olympic Advisory Committee on September 10, 2026; and the required Notice of Vacancy was posted on September 10, 2026. Since that time, only one (1) application was received for consideration,” wrote City Clerk Gloria Harper in her staff report.

By state law, a council cannot fill a vacant seat until 10 days after the notice was posted.

The report did not say where the notice was posted. (The notice was physically posted on the bulletin board outside City Hall on Sept. 10.) District Two Councilman Ben Wong asked the council to appoint Van Voris, according to the report.

According to her application, Van Voris lives in District One. She specifically wrote in “Olympic Committee” as her area of interest.

Van Voris wrote in her application that she has grown up in Seal Beach and considers the gown the greatest place on Earth. She wrote that she would love to help figure out how Seal Beach could best be represented this Olympics.

According to Van Voris, she has a communications degree with a media emphasis.

Van Voris wrote that she manages social media accounts for locations such as Old World in Huntington Beach.

Van Voris wrote that she has managed companies in Seattle and was recently promoted to head of social media for Los Alamitos Police Department.

She wrote that she edits and creates content using different editing platforms.

“I am comfortable talking to people to get the community engaged and excited,” Van Voris wrote.

She didn’t mention it in her application, but Van Voris is an active member of the Seal Beach Lions Club.
