Our beloved and messy ficus trees on Main Street can be replaced by the species that grows outside of the fire station on Eighth Street. The same tree has grown around Walt’s Wharf on Main Street for decades. These trees are not as messy, provide a friendly canopy, and the roots don’t cause people to fall.
The ficus trees can be removed gradually, and the new trees planted as the ficus trees are removed, making a serene transition to a better managed Main Street canopy.
