Kittens are looking for temporary lodging

In addition to being one of the very few no-kill shelters in Southern California, one of the things that make the Seal Beach Animal Care Center unique is the Kitten Foster Care Program.

The Foster Care Program has become an important part of the Care Center and we are deeply grateful for the vital service provided by our foster care volunteers.

There are countless numbers of orphaned and abandoned animals that are too young to survive on their own, or are ill or injured and in need of medical care before they can be made available for adoption.

Every year, literally hundreds of kittens are fostered and adopted through our program. Unfortunately, we can’t take them all and many more end up at public shelters, where their future is uncertain at best.

“Kitten season” is upon us once again, and we are looking for kitten foster parents. We have bottle babies, young kittens and moms with kittens.

We will also need people to fill in for vacation relief, and to work with frightened or shy kittens. We provide training and everything necessary for the kittens while they are in your care.

Another Seal Beach non-profit group, Helen Sanders Cat Protection and Welfare Society (CatPAWS), is also in need of foster parents.

Dedicated to the spirit and memory of Helen Sanders, who tirelessly cared for homeless and abandoned cats, CatPAWS focuses on rescuing cats and underage kittens from public shelters where they would not otherwise make it out alive, promoting spay/neuter through education and by providing vouchers and supporting humane feral cat management programs. We are partnering with CatPAWS to try and save as many kittens and moms with babies as we can.

If you are interested in fostering, please go to the Seal Beach Animal Care Center website, www.sbacc.org, for more information on the program and an online application that you can fill out and submit. You can also email kittenfosterprogram.sbacc@gmail.com with questions. Alternatively, email volunteer@helensanderscatpaws.com for info or download an application from www.helensanderscatpaws.com.

The Seal Beach Animal Care Center and Helen Sanders CatPAWS operate solely on donations; however, we provide all food, medicine and other supplies for all of the fostered animals.  If you feel you cannot commit to being a foster care volunteer at this time, but would like to support our important programs, monetary donations are always welcome and urgently needed as well.  Please consider donating today.
