Wine tasting fundraiser set for family of local man

O’Malley’s on Main will host a memorial fund raising event at 6 p.m., Wednesday, June 24, for the family of a Long Beach man who died Tuesday, according to a spokesperson for Long Beach Memorial Hospital.

Craig Diamond, 42, of Long Beach was taken off life support this week, according to friend John Harris.

The June 24 fund raiser will feature wine tasting $25 per person, raffle and a silent auction.

While Diamond lived in Long Beach, he frequently spent time in Seal Beach, according to Harris.

According to the online fundraising drive at gofundme.com, Diamond recently suffered a seizure that resulted in a fall.

“Craig hit his head so hard that it caused bleeding in his brain. Doctors did all they could, but Craig never woke up and has not had any brain function since Friday,” according to the Internet site.

The family decided to donate Diamond’s organs.

“This GoFundMe is set up to support Wendy and their three children, Brooke, 14; Jaye 12; and Willow, 9. Wendy has always been a mom to all. She is the first person to help a friend in need. Even this weekend she has tried to support those of us here at the hospital instead of taking care of herself,” according to the Internet site.

The goal of the online drive is to raise $100,000 for the Diamond family. So far, the online drive has raised $47,186.
