The 2015 Wienerschnitzel Wiener Nationals at the Los Alamitos Race Course boast the largest ever field of runners.
More than 100 dachshunds will compete at the 20th annual Wienerschnitzel Wiener Nationals on Saturday, July 18.
It will be the largest gathering of dachshunds ever at Los Alamitos Race Course (in Cypress). Contestants include participants from Cypress, Los Alamitos, Seal Beach, Long Beach and other surrounding cities.
The Wiener National festivities will get under way at 6:30 pm. The evening will include live Quarter Horse and Thoroughbred racing featuring many of Los Alamitos’ top equine stars. A total of 10 trial heats will be contested at 50 yards with the winning wieners advancing to the championship race to be held at approximately 9:15 pm.
The participants were selected from hundreds of entries received over the past six months. You can meet the stars of the night – the mighty wiener dogs – and their trainers/owners on the grandstand area throughout this family event.
The event will raise funds for the Seal Beach Animal Care Center, a non-profit group dedicated to finding homes for stray animals in the Orange County area. Since 1996, the Wiener Nationals has raised nearly $250,000 for the Care Center. The Seal Beach Animal Care Center is selling tickets to the event and all proceeds go to the Seal Beach Animal Care Center.
Last year’s event raised approximately $10,000 through ticket sales and T-shirt sales on the day of the event. For more information on the Care Center please call (562)430-4993.
VIP reserved seating is available by calling (714)820-2681. General admission to the track can be purchased on the day of the event at Los Alamitos on a first come first seat basis.
Admission at the track is $3 for adults; Children 17 and under are free. General parking is free. Los Alamitos Race Course is located at 4961 Katella Ave. in Los Alamitos.

Purchase tickets ($5 for adults, 17 & under free) online (pick up with your receipt at the Care Center) or pick them up day of (at the SBACC EZ up in the front of the race course).
