Wag ‘N Walk rolls out the red carpet

Local dogs strutted down a red carpet in town last week. The pups and their owners came out on Sept. 30 to raise funds for the local animal shelter and to encourage pet adoption.

The Seal Beach Animal Care Center’s 21st Annual Wag ‘n Walk event on Saturday started with a pancake breakfast, courtesy of the Seal Beach Lions Club. (For details about the pancake breakfast, see page 3.)

It was then off to the dog parade, with over 140 people and their canine companions walking down Main Street, led by Grand Marshall Justin Rudd and his dog POTUS.

An estimated 400 plus people enjoyed other activities, including a Red Carpet walk by current Care Center adoptable dogs, a dog costume contest, and an assortment of vendors selling everything from jewelry and native plants to adorable dog wear and pet goodies.

Miss Seal Beach Court helped sell raffle tickets, and local restaurants Finbars Italian Kitchen, Avila’s El Ranchito and Dave’s Cosmic Subs provided delicious lunch options.

Dennis Sweeney was the grand prize winner of a $1,000 Visa gift card and he generously donated his winnings to the Care Center.
