On Sunday Aug. 4, three Seal Beach Police Explorers graduated from the 2019 Orange County Law Enforcement Explorers Advisor’s Association (OCLEEAA) Summer Explorer Academy. The Academy was held from Wednesday, July 31, to Sunday, Aug. 4, at the Boy Scouts of America Outdoor Education Center located at Irvine Regional Park, in the city of Orange.

The Academy consisted of Explorer recruits from Orange and Los Angeles Counties who received instruction in such areas as ethics, report writing, physical fitness, Special Weapons and Tactics (“S.W.A.T.”), traffic control, DUI, high risk traffic stops, crime scene investigations, patrol procedures and canine. The Academy graduated more than 100 Explorers, each one receiving college credit from Santa Ana Community College for his or her completion of the Academy. Awards were given to Explorers who excelled in Academics (Testing and Note taking), Physical Fitness, Drill and Overall (a combination of all areas of testing).

Seal Beach Police Explorer Graduates:

Grant Wagner (4th Place Academics) is a freshman at Los Alamitos HS and a member of the Post for six months. Grant’s interest in the program developed after attending the SBPD Open House and speaking with Explorers from the Post. Grant plans to join the military after high school and someday would like to become a police officer.

Bronson Tsarofski is a freshman at Los Alamitos HS where he plays lacrosse, and has been a member of the Post for approximately six months. Bronson learned about the Post when he was 10 years old from (now retired) Sergeants Ron LaVelle and John Scott and was hooked on law enforcement ever since. Bronson is a Star Scout in Boy Scouts working toward earning his Eagle.

Cade Powell is a freshman at Los Alamitos HS where he plays football, and has been a member of the Post for approximately six months. He joined the Post to get involved with his community and better himself for his future. Cade’s sister just graduated from the Marine Corps boot camp and he hopes to someday join the military or law enforcement.

The Seal Beach Police Department welcomes the new members and congratulates them on a job well done!
