Seal Beach Lions complete one year of graffiti removal

More than 1,400 graffiti markings have been removed or covered up by the Seal Beach Lions-Against-Graffiti team over the past year.

Throughout the year, Lion members searched out graffiti throughout the entire city including the alleys of Old Town and the riverbed bike trail.

“Our goal is removal rather than cover-up” said Lion Ray Longoria who is chairman of the L.A.G. team. “When we get done, we really want our town to look as if Graffiti was never there.”

Last summer, the Lions established a graffiti removal hotline for residents and business owners to report graffiti sighting.

“Our commitment is to remove the graffiti within 48 hours of notification but most of the time we get it done in less a day,” said LAG team member Cathy Newton. “We carry graffiti removal supplies when we like ride around town and have become experts at spotting graffiti.”

The Lions recently teamed up with the pros from Joe’s Premium Painting to remove the graffiti markings on the jetty rocks across the channel from Seal Beach.  “As long as we can see the graffiti from Seal Beach, Lions will take charge in removing it,” Newton said.

Bay City Partners generously donated the funds for the Jetty Graffiti Removal.

To report graffiti, email graffitiremoval@sealbeachlions.com and Lions will respond immediately.
