SBPD arrests two in Old Town robbery

On Sunday, Nov. 11, Seal Beach Police officers arrested two Compton men, Miguel Gutierrez, 19,  and Leonardo Barboza, 20, on suspicion of robbery, according to a statement issued Wednesday morning by the SBPD.

On Nov. 10, at approximately 11:55 p.m., two male individuals approached the victim near the corner of Eighth Street and Central Avenue.  One of the individuals produced a handgun and demanded the victim’s wallet and cell phone, and fled in an older model black SUV.  A follow up investigation led police to Gutierrez and Barboza, who were arrested in the city of Compton.  Both men are being held at the Orange County Jail and the case has been referred to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.

The SBPD did not release booking photos of the two men. It is SBPD policy to only release booking photos when they are seeking additional victims in a crime.

Police are asking anyone with information related to this crime to contact Detective Jeff Gibson at 562-799-4100 ext. 1109.
