For only the second time in its history, the American Red Cross has declared a second-ever national blood supply crisis with donation levels falling to a four-year summer low. Patients may already be feeling the consequences of the blood crisis, with some forced to wait for the blood they desperately need.

Seal Beach Knights of Columbus will jump into action once again come Thursday, Sept. 24, hosting a blood drive at St. Anne’s Parish Hall, 340 10th Street, Seal Beach from 1 – 7 p.m., and you can park right out front.

The Red Cross will perform all blood donations, and you can be assured that donating blood is a safe and short process.

Just a few minutes of your time can mean everything to a person in need. Think of the lives you will save by making blood immediately available for people with severe trauma caused by natural or man-made disasters, for patients who require blood transfusions following, and more.

Blood donors will receive a mini-physical as Red Cross volunteers check your blood pressure, body temperature, heart rate, and hemoglobin or iron levels. And donors will receive a $15 e-gift card.

Help the Knights bring blood to those in need Thursday, Sept. 24 at St. Anne’s Parish Hall.
