Public workshop announced for Seal Beach eucalyptus tree study

The City of Seal Beach recently completed an arborist study and evaluation of an existing grove of Eucalyptus Trees located near the intersection of Lampson Avenue and Seal Beach Boulevard.  The overall health and viability of 58 mature Eucalyptus Trees were evaluated by a licensed arborist who developed recommendations for the rehabilitation as well as removal and replacement of some of these trees.

A workshop reviewing the study will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 22, in the Seal Beach Tennis Center clubhouse located at 3900 Lampson Ave., Seal Beach.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the overall health of these trees as well as develop a management plan for the care and sustainability of this grove over the long term.  The trees were evaluated to determine their overall health and vigor, structural integrity, pest/disease conditions and receptiveness to improvement and/or lack of ability to improve.  Specific measures to improve and manage these trees have been developed.
