McGaugh’s Project SEEK honored with ‘Heroes of the Heart Award’

Board members for McGaugh Elementary School’s Project SEEK (Seeking Excellence in Education for our Kids) were recently presented with the prestigious Los Alamitos Unified School District “Heroes of the Heart Award.”

Principal Bill MacDonald nominated Project SEEK for this honor, which is given annually to community members who make a difference at each local school.

Celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, Project SEEK is a California 501c (3) non-profit corporation made up of dedicated parent volunteers who raise money to support enrichment programs for McGaugh Elementary, a four-time winner of California’s Distinguished School Award.  Family donations, fundraisers, and the eScrip program all help finance important enrichment programs.

This past February, Project SEEK gave a check totaling $138,751.09 to support McGaugh Elementary School’s Media Center, Computer Lab and Art Lab – programs that are integrated into the school’s regular curriculum.

Project SEEK is now gearing up for ”The Event,” its largest fundraiser of the school year, set for April 28 at Tantalum Restaurant in Long Beach. The Event is completely run on the generous spirit of family, friends, and businesses that donate merchandise, gift certificates, and services, as well as business sponsorships.
