Campuses across the Los Alamitos Unified School District were once again filled with students on Wednesday, Aug. 12, as the District welcomed them back for the start of the 2026-2027 school year, according to a District statement.
Students returned to campuses across the District, joining Weaver Elementary students, who began their school year on July 29.
From elementary school students meeting their new teachers to middle and high school students reconnecting with friends and finding their way to new classes, the first day brought plenty of excitement across Los Alamitos Unified School District.
“The first day of school is always a reminder of what makes Los Alamitos Unified so special: our students, our staff and the incredible community that supports them,” said Superintendent Dr. Andrew Pulver.
“As we begin this new school year, we are excited to continue creating opportunities for every student to discover their strengths, challenge themselves, and defy expectations in ways that are uniquely their own,” Pulver said.
Defying Expectations is the District’s theme for the 2026-2027 school year, encouraging students and staff to believe in what is possible and not allow expectations, assumptions, obstacles, or even their own doubts to define what they can achieve.
Los Alamitos Unified serves students across nine schools and remains committed to providing exceptional learning experiences and opportunities for every student to thrive.
