Nicola Harrison who will talk about why the heroines of her three novels all are trailblazers in each of three decades of the 1900s.

The Westminster-Fountain Valley-Huntington Beach AAUW’s 31st Annual Author’s Luncheon is set for Saturday, April 13, from 1 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Mile Square Golf Course, 10401 Warner Ave., Fountain Valley.

Proceeds from this event will be used to send middle school girls to Tech Trek summer camp and to supply scholarships for women to continue their education.

This year’s guest author is popular local author, Nicola Harrison who will talk about why the heroines of her three novels all are trailblazers in each of three decades of the 1900s. She will sign books both before and after the luncheon. Her recent novels include The Show Girl, Montauk, and Hotel Laguna. The latter, published in 2023, has been described as “an engaging piece of historical fiction set in Laguna Beach just after WWII.”

A former Tech Trek attendee will speak about why this summer camp opportunity is important to further girls’ interest in the STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) professions.

Additionally, the event includes a silent auction, an opportunity drawing, and a served lunch. The luncheon includes grilled marinated chicken breast, chive mashed potatoes, garden vegetables, and the restaurant’s famous Decadent Chocolate Brownie dessert.

Price of tickets is $80, due by April 1, 2024. No walk-ins. This is a non-refundable event. Mail reservation form and check(s) to: Zelda Rice, 4565 Birchwood Ave, Seal Beach, CA90740.
