The real Rachel Buffett

I would really like the city of Seal Beach to know a little about Rachel Buffett.

This is in responce to the article by Charles M Kelly dated Dec. 6, 2012, under Crime Log.  In the article, Mr. Kelly reported that Rachel waved arraignment  in the Sam Herr/Juri Kibuishi murder case regarding the alledged murderer, Wosniak and that  prosecutors have accused Buffett of lying to police investigators to help her then fiance, (Wosniak, ex-fiance,) evade arrest.

I just wanted the community to know the real Rachel Buffett.  She has been depicted to know about information after the fact of these horrible murders and because of this, was held in jail for almost three weeks.

In fact, Rachel’s mother told me that “Good Morning America“ came over to the CA Wine Room on Tuesday, Dec. 11, to do a quick interview.  She told them her only fault was picking the wrong guy to be engaged with.

I have known the Buffet family for over 30 years and they have been a part of this community for a very long time.

Rachel’s mom, Maryanne Buffet was raised in Los Alamitos and one of eight kids.  She homeschooled all five of her kids when they were living on 2nd Street here in Seal and brought them up with honesty and integrity.  Their home church has been Cottonwood Christian Church in Cypress.

I have known Rachel all her life and she has been one who was always honest and trustworthy and maybe her biggest fault was being a little too naive and always too trusting in other people.  I do not believe, as her family and friends, that she had any knowledge of the evilness of this horrific man that she was going to marry.

Help ‘Deck The Halls’ of Interval House

Sadly, the holidays are the busiest time of year for Interval House, which has served as a lifeline to battered women and children in Seal Beach since opening its doors in 1979.

Interval House is the only domestic violence shelter program in Seal Beach, with a rich, storied history of providing comprehensive, award-winning services to thousands of mothers and children in crisis.

Interval House’s own special holiday wish is to be able to provide a safe and lovely holiday season for the very deserving women and children who could use some extra holiday cheer this year. We are overwhelmed with the number of abused women and children who turn to us for safety, shelter and the promise of a brighter New Year.

By helping with just one of the needs listed below, your generosity will touch many lives:

• A Special Holiday Financial Donation – This will help Interval House meet the most immediate needs of its residents and shelters during its busiest time of the year.

• Gift Cards for Supermarkets or Retail Stores – Please consider donating gift cards for supermarkets or retail stores (such as Target) so that Interval House can distribute these gifts to all of the women and children in our shelter and outreach programs during the holiday season.

The gift cards, though seemingly impersonal and generic, is actually the very most personal gift that you can give to a woman or child in need. “It is extremely personal because it gives a woman a sense of self-respect as she, with gift card in hand, can hand pick the perfect gift for her children, or buy the food that she and her children need most,” said Community Education Director Janine Limas Hageman. “Most families have little to nothing, and their needs range from clothing to food to household items to everything else imaginable.  Gift cards ensure that the families get exactly what they need most.”

Cards of any kind and in any denomination will be most appreciated, especially because they can be used all year round.

Those cards that are not given out during the holidays are used

to help families purchase household items, clothing, and essential items throughout the year as they transition into safer, stronger, healthier lives. We sincerely hope that you will choose to share your good fortune this holiday season with those who desperately need the love, joy, and support that your donation would provide.

Please send holiday donations directly to: Interval House Special Holiday Gift, P.O. Box 3356 Seal Beach, CA 90740. For more information, or to make special arrangements, please call Janine Limas Hageman at (562) 594-9492, ext 235.

The entire Interval House family wishes you a warm and wonderful holiday season!
