‘Happy roots’

I appreciated reading about the Rossmoor Fiction Writing Contest.  My parents were original Rossmoor homeowners, all seven of us kids grew up in the schools and all of us graduated from college. I’m not eligible to enter since I live in Naples/LB, but I hope you print the winning story in The Sun. Many of us have “happy roots” in the experimental housing tract that began in the ’60s.

Some Tree Committee members say, “The trees aren’t the problem, people are, if they fall, they’re drunk or stupid.”

We are in BIG trouble when we allow people who think this way to make recommendations, which affect all of us!

My name is Cecile Maurice, age 71. I was not drunk or stupid when I broke my foot after tripping and falling on Main Street about a year ago. I took pictures of the uneven sidewalk and tree planter area, which caused my fall.  The official at City Hall said, “Looks like a lawsuit to me!”

“Stupid” me decided not to file a claim.  That won’t be the case next time!
