Junior Lifeguards seek summer applicants

For the last 23 years in a row, the Seal Beach Lifeguard Department has offered the Junior Lifeguard Program to the young people of Seal Beach and its surrounding communities.

Over the years it has become one of the most popular summer youth programs, expanding five times between 1998 and 2006 to our current number of 300.

Unfortunately, this year we are seeing lower enrollment numbers than we had anticipated.

As a result, we will be offering three additional try-out dates for new participants.

The location, dates, and times are as follows:

McGaugh Elementary School—1698 Bolsa Ave., Seal Beach (located on the corner of Bolsa Avenue and Seal Beach Boulevard).

Tuesday, June 22—6:30 to 8 p.m.

Thursday, June 24—6:30 to 8 p.m.

Saturday, June 26—7 to 9 a.m.

Additional information:

The Junior Lifeguard program will be holding registration on the pool deck on each of the additional swim test dates.

The program will accept registration applications on a first come first served basis until all spaces are filled or the last day of testing, whichever comes first.
