The Federal Government is selling land in Old Town.
An online auction will be held at 11 a.m. Central Time, Monday, April 11, for four separate land parcels that run south of Landing Avenue from 16th Street to Seal Beach Boulevard.
The auction will end based on the bids. According to the Invitation For Bids, the minimum bid for each so-called Pacific Electric parcel is $200,000, with bidding increments of $50,000 each. Registration to bid requires a deposit of $50,000.
Bids to purchase must be all cash.
Sean Crumby, Seal Beach assistant city manager and director of Public Works said the Federal Government was going through a process to make Federal land available to the public. He said the process had been on-going for several years and the city had been participating.
“At this point, we’re monitoring the auction,” Crumby said.
He said the development of the property would be subject to the same zoning as the rest of the area.
According to the Invitation for Bids, the four parcels are zoned for residential medium density-planned development.
However, a Seal Beach zoning map for the Old Town-Bridgeport area of Seal Beach, found on the city’s website, shows the area is zoned residential high density.

The largest of the four parcels, known as Parcel A, is 10,493.60 square feet in size.
The smallest, Parcel D, is 6,834.56 square feet.
