Four running for seats on Sunset Beach Community Association Board

Everyone who is a registered voter in Sunset Beach has been sent a ballot for the election for the Sunset Beach Community Association Board of Directors. They need to have it mailed back by Nov. 30 for it to be counted.

The Board is composed of seven members. The term for each board member is two years. The terms are staggered so one year three new members are elected and the following year four are chosen.

There are four terms that are up. Two incumbents, Tony Nobles and Carolyn Caslin are running again. Marc Fitch and Marianne Reifer are running for the other two open positions. The candidates have been invited to speak at the association’s Nov. 7 board meeting. Meetings start promptly at 7:30 p.m. and are currently held at the Sunset Beach Woman’s Club at 16812 Bayview Dr. (This building is located off Broadway over the bridge behind Captain Jack’s Restaurant.)

Marianne Reifer

Marianne Reifer

Hi my name is Marianne Reifer and while I have only lived in Sunset Beach for three years, my love for this community runs deep. My visits to my grandparent’s place on North Pacific when I was young are some of my fondest memories.

I have enjoyed volunteering at several community events since I have moved to Sunset Beach, including the Mother’s Day Art Festival and Chili Cookoff. I am passionate about running for the Sunset Beach Community Association (SBCA) board to help preserve Sunset Beach’s unique community and traditions.

I graduated from Chapman University with a degree in Journalism and have gained advertising, marketing, and extensive writing experience in my career after college.

Three years ago I decided to make a change and started working for a small nonprofit in downtown Los Angeles that provides health and stability for homeless and extremely low-income families and individuals.

I know my education, work experience and most importantly, my passion for Sunset Beach would make me a great candidate for the SBCA board. Thank you for your consideration!
