The green fence that surrounded the Bay City Partners’ property in Seal Beach was torn down Thursday afternoon, Sept. 13. City officials had called for the removal of the fence when the City Council agreed to change the zoning for the undeveloped 10-plus acre parcel that used to belong to the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power.
Ed Selich, project manager for the Bay City Partners, confirmed that the fence went down in recent e-mails to the Sun.
The council approved the zoning change on June 26, with council members Gordon Shanks and Ellery Deaton voting for the change on the condition that the property owners give 6.4 acres to the city of Seal Beach.
At the same meeting, Deaton said she wanted the green fence that surrounds the property to come down.
Selich said that could be arranged.
Mayor Michael Levitt, however, wasn’t sure the fence should be removed before the land is developed because the fence kept dust on the lot.
As of now, the green fence is down.
