On Friday, January 29, 2010, approximately 5:50AM, the Seal Beach Police Department responded to the intersection of Pacific Coast Highway at Bolsa Avenue regarding a report of a traffic collision. Officers found that a pedestrian had been struck by a car and he was critically injured. The 80 year old pedestrian was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter. His identity is being withheld pending notification of his relatives.
The driver of the car was interviewed and subsequently released.  The investigation is ongoing. The accident investigation is being conducted by the Serious Traffic Accident Review Team consisting of traffic investigation specialists from the Seal Beach, Los Alamitos and Cypress Police Departments.  The investigation resulted in the closure of Pacific Coast Highway for several hours.
