It’s not often that an 8-year-old gets grown-ups to listen to them, much less take their advice. But this is a toy store, a place where kids have tremendous influence and the winner of a special promotion got just such an opportunity this week.

Knock knock Toys & Gifts on Main Street welcomed their very special guest “Manager for the Afternoon” on Saturday.

Katherine McMahon, a student at McGaugh Elementary School, won the auction item at The Event earlier in the year. Saturday was the day that she reported for the afternoon of fun, uh, work!

Her tasks included: working the cash register, running credit cards through the credit card machine, pricing toys and putting them on the shelves, putting knock knock jokes in bags, putting stickers on the shopping bags, and offering great customer service.

According to knock knock owner and manager Lisa McHenry, the store’s customers loved working with Katherine and valued her 8-year-old perspective.
