Crime Log: Seal Beach checkpoint captures seven drunk drivers

The Seal Beach Police Department arrested seven people for driving under the influence at a DUI/Driver’s license checkpoint held during the Valentine’s Day weekend. The checkpoint took place from 8 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 13 to 2 a.m., Sunday, Feb. 14 at 1st Street and Pacific Coast Highway.

In addition to the seven DUI arrests, officers issued 15 citations and stored 10 vehicles as a result of the checkpoint.

By publicizing these checkpoints, SBPD officials believe motorists will be deterred from drinking and driving. The department issued an announcement of the checkpoint nearly a week prior.
