Monday, July  17

Arrest—3:37 p.m.—St. Andrews Drive and Golden Rain Road, Mutual Unknown—The Orange County Fire Authority was present at a traffic accident and believed one of the drivers might be intoxicated. Some details were blacked out in the log. Police arrested Glenn James Schweers on suspicion of drunken driving.

Sunday, July 16

Beach Campers—6:47 a.m.—Neptune Avenue—The caller said an unspecified number of individuals were camping on the beach. Many details were blacked out in the log. Police unit 107 advised the person responsible that the Seal Beach Municipal Code does not allow camping on the beach. That individual apparently agreed to comply.

Car Blocking—10:49 a.m.—17th Street—The caller said a car had been parked in front of the caller’s garage since Saturday, July 15. The caller wanted the car towed. A few details were blacked out in the log. By 10:51 a.m., the caller had located the registered owner of the car and canceled the call before a police unit could arrive.

Pedestrian Check—1:20 p.m.—Surfside Avenue—Police unit 107 stopped a pedestrian and based on a warrant arrested Larissa Green on suspicion of possession of illegal drug paraphernalia and possession for sale of a controlled substance that may only be legally prescribed by a licensed doctor, dentist or veterinarian.

Disturbance—1:43 p.m.—Ocean Avenue—The caller yelled at the dispatch, reporting that someone stole her keys in the parking lot at the location. She also said a man was trying to take her child. The dispatcher heard a child crying and heard a man causing a disturbance. (The log didn’t specify the nature of the disturbance.) Then her phone disconnected. Dispatch tried to call back and got her voice mail. Police contacted the woman and requested two more units. Some details were blacked out in the log. Police arrested Manuel Mata on suspicion of domestic violence. (California Penal Code 243(e)(1).)

Possible Drugs—2:40 p.m.—Landing Avenue—The caller said a man was possibly smoking drugs from a glass pipe. The caller said he was there with another man. A few details were blacked out in the log. Police unit 107 contacted three individuals. They were apparently advised against smoking drugs and were sent on their way. No further law enforcement services were required.

Attempted Burglary—5:10 p.m.—Third Street—The caller said someone cut the locks off the garages at the location. No loss. The caller only wanted documentation. Log entry.

Possible Brandishing of Weapon—6:48 p.m.—Pacific Coast Highway—The caller said a driver was running other drivers off the road, flashing what the caller believed to be gang signs and possible displaying a weapon—though the caller was not sure about the weapon. The suspicious driver was last seen driving westbound on Pacific Coast Highway. The caller was no longer in the area. Police were unable to locate the suspicious driver on Pacific Coast Highway. Police unit 207 continued driving into Long Beach, but was unable to locate the suspect.

Disturbance, Family—7:02 p.m.—Eighth Street and Electric Avenue—The caller said two individuals traveling on foot, a man and a woman, appeared to be drunk and having a verbal fight. A few details were blacked out in the log.

By 7:03 p.m., the caller said the woman appeared to be getting way from the man. Police contacted the man and the woman at different locations. The man was apparently in the jurisdiction of another law enforcement agency and the log did not say whether he was arrested. Seal Beach Police arrested Kaitlin Conti on suspicion of public intoxication.

Open Door—7:46 p.m.—Taper Drive—The caller came home to find a gate and a window were open. A few details were blacked out in the log. The caller said she and her family were waiting outside for the police. They had not checked the residence. However, she called back and cancelled the call before a police unit could be dispatched. Apparently her kids were responsible for the open gate and door.

911 Hang-Up—9:14 p.m.—Seal Beach Boulevard—Dispatch called back. An employee at the location said it came from one of the rooms. The employee transferred the call to the room in question. No answer from the room. A dispatcher spoke with the employee who said some people just checked into the hotel with a bunch of kids. The hotel employee said he would send someone to check on them and call back if the police were needed. It turned out they were not needed. The employee called back and told police that the 911 hang up was apparently the result of children playing.

Monday, July  17

Burglary Report—6:46 a.m.—Fifth Street—The caller reported the theft of an unspecified number of surfboards taken sometime during the night. A lock may have been cut. Report taken.

Burglary Report—6:50 a.m.—Seventh Street—The caller said that sometime between 9 p.m., Sunday, July 16, and the time of the call to police on Monday, July 17, someone took the caller’s purse. Point of entry: unknown. The caller believed the doors of the home were locked. However, at 7:05 a.m., the call was cancelled before a unit was dispatched. The caller phoned back to report that the purse had been found.

Traffic Collision, Non-Injury—7:59 a.m.—Seventh Street and Ocean Avenue—Police unit V434 found the driver of one of the cars was only wearing underwear. A few details were blacked out in the log. Police arrested James Scott Fitzgerald on suspicion of drunken driving.

Road Rage—9:40 a.m.—Pacific Coast Highway and Fifth Street—The caller said the driver of a pickup truck was trying to hit her car. The driver of the pickup truck was reportedly honking and screaming at her as his car tailgated hers. A few details were blacked out in the log. At 9:42 a.m., he turned on Studebaker. At 9:43 a.m., the caller said she was safe now. The call was canceled.

Petty Theft Report—10:54 a.m.—Seal Beach Boulevard—A citizen reported the loss of a cell phone, clothing and tools taken from an unlocked car at an unspecified time. Report taken.

Car Burglary—11:35 a.m.—Birchwood Avenue—A citizen reported that sometime between Wednesday, July 12, and Monday, July 17, someone  stole golf clubs and a bowling ball from the caller’s car. The value of the clubs was blacked out in the log. No suspect information. Point of entry: unknown, but the citizen said the car was locked. Report taken.

Welfare Check—6:34 p.m.—Old Ranch Parkway—The caller requested a welfare check on a man the caller described as elderly. The caller didn’t know if he was drunk or had a medical problem. He came into the location, where he had a meal and a drink. When he left, he was stumbling to his car. As of 6:35 p.m., the car engine was running yet the car was still in the parking lot. The caller said he did not appear drunk when he came in. A few details were blacked out in the log. Police arrested Thomas Edward Paalman on suspicion of drunken driving.

Tuesday, July 18

Peddler—12:11 p.m.—Hazelnut Avenue—The caller said a man was going door to door. A few details were blacked out in the log. Police unit 106 contacted the man and advised him that peddling without a permit is not allowed in Seal Beach. He apparently told police he would comply.

Traffic Collision, Non-Injury—2:18 p.m.—Pacific Coast Highway—A few details were blacked out in the log. The caller said a surfboard flew off another car and took out the caller’s windshield. The other driver was circling back around. Police unit M7 contacted both drivers. They exchanged names. Log entry.

Municipal Code Complaint—10:42 p.m.—Surfside Avenue—The caller said two individuals with bicycles had been camping on the beach for the past three days. The caller speculated that they might be transients. Some details were blacked out in the log. Police contacted two individuals on the beach. They were interviewed in the field and counseled against camping on the beach.

Wednesday, July 19

Suspicious Person—6:23 a.m.—Seal Beach Boulevard—The caller reported a man riding one bike and holding another. The caller said he asked the man where he got the second bike. He told the caller he got it five minutes earlier.

The caller, however, suspected that the man might possibly have stolen the bike. A few details were blacked out in the log. By 6:35 a.m., police had contacted the man with two bikes. According to the log, he had a ukulele (which police booked for safe keeping) in addition to the bikes. Police unit 106 requested another unit to pickup the bikes. He told police that he found them at a location that was blacked out in the log. Police arrested John Luis Brunken on suspicion of possession of illegal drug paraphernalia.

Car Burglary—2:20 p.m.—Hazelnut Avenue—The caller said someone broke into the caller’s car between 8 p.m., Tuesday, July 18, and 8 a.m., Wednesday, July 19. Point of entry: unknown. Loss, make-up and a debit card. A few details were blacked out in the log. Report taken.

Petty Theft Report—4:56 p.m.—Pacific Coast Highway—The caller said the store was detaining a woman, who store employees accused of stealing baby formula. The caller said her male partner might still be in the parking lot. Some details were blacked out in the log. Police arrested Devin Thompson on suspicion of shoplifting.

Fireworks—10:29 p.m.—Pansy Circle—The caller wanted to speak with a police officer about a box of firecrackers that were just set off in front of her house. No suspect information.

Thursday, July 20

Disturbance—1:43 a.m.—First Street—The first caller reported two women yelling. The first caller described the incident as a verbal fight only. However, the second caller apparently reported a physical fight between two women. No weapons were seen. A few details were blacked out in the log. Dispatch could hear the yelling in the background.

By 1:46 a.m., one of the callers had phoned the police again to report that one of the women had left and he no longer heard screaming. By 1:47 a.m., police unit 241 had contacted two individuals and police unit 207 had also arrived. A few details were blacked out in the log. Police arrested Alana Shardae Watkins on suspicion of assault.

Car Burglary—5:29 a.m.—Aster Street—The caller said someone took two radio batteries, a headset and miscellaneous other items from the caller’s car. Point of entry: unknown, but the doors were locked. A few details were blacked out in the log. Report taken.

MONDAY, JULY 3

Arrest—8:24 a.m.—Katella Avenue and Noel Street—The caller reported a suspected drunken driver who apparently was involved in a traffic collision. The caller followed the suspect for sometime and said the driver hit a car before police caught up with him. When police caught up with the driver, they found that he was driving a car that had been reported stolen. Police arrested Marlon DeLeon, 24, on suspicion of possession of stolen property. The registered owner of the vehicle was notified and the car was held to be dusted for fingerprints. No further details given.

TUESDAY, JULY 4

Traffic Hazard—1:03 p.m.—Marna Avenue—The caller reported someone driving a car was trying to crash into her garage. The caller said they could see the top of the car but the caller was too scared to go outside and check.

A second caller reported seeing the driver unconscious while behind the wheel of the car. Police arrived on scene and transported the driver to the Los Alamitos Medical Center where his blood alcohol level was tested. Eventually, Juan Ramon Mosqueda, 38, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, cited, and released. No further details given.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 5

Burglary—10:48 a.m.—Pine Street—The caller reported someone took an iMac Pro, two wireless hotspots and a wireless camera from their apartment.

The caller said the suspect might have had a key and the theft occurred on Thursday or Friday. No further details given.

THURSDAY, JULY 7

Suspicious Circumstances—9:23 a.m.—Farquhar Avenue—Police were called on a local teenager taking a golf cart for a joy ride. A caller reported to police that they believed someone stole a golf cart. The caller wanted to make sure officers and officials at the school were aware of the situation. Police caught up with the joy-riding teen and released him back to his parents. No prosecution was desired. No further details given.
