Monday, June 3

Coyote—11:28 a.m.—Island View Drive—A citizen came to police headquarters to ask to speak with an officer about a coyote taking the citizen’s cat on the previous Friday.

Tuesday, June 4

Disturbance—3:08 p.m.—Ocean Avenue—The caller said a man was catching pigeons and putting them in a cage. Police checked with Long Beach Animal Care Services and were told the man in question would need a business license to catch pigeons. Police then called California Fish and Game and were told that the man would need a hunting license. Police unit 107 arrested the man for violating the Fish and Game Code as well as for possession of methamphetamines and drug paraphernalia. His car was legally parked.  The pigeons were set free.
