Editor’s note: This week’s Crime Log is based on two documents provided by the Seal Beach Police Department, a detailed version of the log covering the period from 6 a.m., Sept. 6 to 6 a.m., Sept. 7, and covers 94 incidents. The summary log covers the period from Sept. 5 to Sept. 12.  Summary logs provide no details about incidents or arrests. The combined documents contain a total of 42 pages.

In Seal Beach

Thursday, September 5

• Petty Theft – Saint Andrews Drive – The caller reported that items had been stolen from their vehicle sometime between August 20 at noon and 1 p.m. on September 5.

Friday, September 6

• Traffic Violations (Priority 4) – 7:57 a.m. – Pacific Coast Highway – Seal Beach Officers cited the driver of a vehicle for violation of license provisions, lack of trailer registration.

• Transient (Priority 3) – 8:18 a.m. – Saint Andrews Drive – Officers noticed a transient sleeping in the area. The person declined services and complied with police by leaving the area.

• Possible DUI (Priority 2) – 9:34 a.m. – Pacific Coast Highway and Seal Beach Boulevard – The caller reported seeing a female driver of a Sebring swerving in lanes of traffic. Police later discovered the vehicle parked legally and spoke with the driver, who had been on her way to work. The driver was not under the influence.

• Defrauded Innkeeper (Priority 3) – 10:18 a.m. – Marina Drive – The caller stated that a person had skipped out on their bill.

• Animal Welfare Check (Priority 3) – 11:03 a.m. – Annandale Drive – The caller reported that there was a dog in an SUV that had its windows cracked open. Officers checked on the situation, saw that the windows were halfway down and determined that the dog was not in distress.

• Transient (Priority 3) – 12:21 p.m. – Westminster Avenue – The caller reported a transient behind the location attempting to sleep. Officers provided the person with a bus pass.

• Fire (Priority 2) – 1:05 p.m. – Pacific Coast Highway and Kitts Highway – Two callers reported a brush fire on the side of the road, including white smoke coming from the ravine.

• Suspicious Person (Priority 2) – 3:57 p.m. – Ocean Avenue – The caller reported that a man whose pants were slipping off was making inappropriate comments. The person in question was gone when police arrived.

• Transient (Priority 3) – 5:01 p.m. – Coastline Drive – The caller stated that they saw a person with beer next to them sleeping in a yard. Police spoke to the man, who collected his things and left the area.

• Welfare Check (Priority 3) – 7:34 p.m. – 10th Street – The caller reported that a man sitting on a patio across the street was drinking and looked like he was going to fall over. Police arrested Timothy Matheny for being under the influence in public.

• Arrest – Marina Drive – Steven Brian Foley was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

• Arrest – 10th Street – Timothy James Matheny was arrested on suspicion of disorderly conduct.

Saturday, September 7

• Disturbing Music (Priority 3) – 2:00 a.m. – 7th Street – The caller stated that they could hear loud music. Police advised the parties to lower the music.

Sunday, September 8

• Arrest – Ocean Avenue – Mee Ling Elliott was arrested on suspicion of petty theft.

• Arrest – Dolphin Avenue and Marine Avenue – Jaime Huero Flores was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance.

• Arrest – 1:31 a.m. – Farquhar Avenue and Pine Street (Los Alamitos) – Ronald Gabriel Bucica was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
