Coyotes an overrated problem

We live on Electric facing the green belt.  We see a coyote or on rare occasions coyotes regularly.  The other day there was an adolescent coyote who was hanging out in the shade.  Most of us just enjoyed watching it.  Eventually someone came by and chased it away.  She was pretty emotional because she has a cat that demands to be let out and did not want the coyote to eat her cat. Understandable.  (I do have photos because I saw SBPD Capt. Nicholas say that these coyote sightings are unverified reports.) (Motivation for inaction?)

But my bigger point is neither I or my dog have ever been threatened.  And we walk down to the First street park every day where until recently there was a whole family of coyotes.

Again none of the puppies or adults approached anyone.  There were lots of people looking at the coyotes and taking pictures. (Myself included. ) So, I think it is an overrated problem.  I guess the good news is if Coyotes are the biggest problem meriting seven weeks of articles,  things must be going pretty well in Seal Beach.
