This year marks the 40th year of the Calvary Chapel Surfing Association, originally started by Calvary Chapel Pacific Coast in Westminster. They provide quality amateur surfing contests and surfing events through the year with a Christ-based focus. Their message is Jesus Christ is Our Lord and God is our Savior. Event volunteers Edgar Apodaca of Huntington Beach and Graham Stanley of Seal Beach were on hand at the recent High School Challenge that was held on Saturday, April 13, south side of the Huntington Beach Pier where 40 Students from five local high schools (Marina, Edison, Pacifica, Fountain Valley and Huntington) competed.

Maggie Curtis of Seal Beach, who volunteered at the event with her husband Carl, said: “What I like best is the students had to write a Bible Scripture (John 17 Verse 3) and they would be entered in a contest for free prizes.

Aaron Pai, owner of Huntington Surf & Sport said: “The Pai Family and HSS are celebrating 36 years of friendship, teamwork, sponsorship and Aloha spirit with the Calvary Chapel Surfing Association. We are stoked to sponsor the CCSA for going on 36 years! The CCSA is a class act!”

You can register to be in the coming events on July 27 and Aug. 24 at Goldenwest Street and Sept. 21 at the South Side of The Huntington Beach Pier.
