Attempted murder suspect nabbed in Seal Beach

Seal Beach and Huntington Beach police officers arrested a suspect in an attempted murder Sunday night, Feb. 13.

The arrest occurred on Seal Beach’s Daisy Street. According to the Huntington Beach Police Department, the story started around 9:12 p.m. on Georgia Street. The following is the HBPD’s account:

A Huntington Beach woman called 911 to report that her neighbor had been injured during a domestic violence incident.

Police did not release the details of the victim’s injuries. However, the victim’s injuries were apparently not life threatening.

The caller said the victim had left her apartment to seek help. The caller said the suspect, a man, was still in the apartment.

When Huntington Beach Police officers responded to the apartment building, they discovered the man had left in his vehicle.  They determined the domestic violence related crime was attempted murder.

The police officers determined that one of the places the suspect might have fled to was Seal Beach.

Huntington Beach 911 communications operators shared this information with the Seal Beach Police Department.

The SBPD received calls from local residents about a man climbing through backyards and over fences.

The Seal Beach police officers located a white GMC pickup truck parked in the 3600 block of Daisy Street in Seal Beach.  The truck was registered to the suspect.

Seal Beach police officers established a perimeter. Huntington Beach police officers, along with the Huntington Beach police helicopter and canine unit responded to search for the suspect.

At about 11:20 p.m., Michael Anthony Morales, 35, Huntington Beach, was taken into custody in the 3600 block of Seal Beach’s Daisy Street.  He was booked in the Huntington Beach Police Department jail for charges of attempt murder.

The fact he has been booked does not mean the Orange County District Attorney’s Office will file attempted murder charges when the case comes to court—if the case is prosecuted.

There is no information about Morales or the case at either the Orange County Sheriff’s Department Web site or the Orange County Superior Court Web site.
