A Rossmoor miss is crowned

Rossmoor resident Molly Brodzinski, an employee of Hof’s Hut in Los Alamitos, was crowned Miss Southern California 2011 on Sunday May 15.

Brodzinski was selected during the pageants for Miss Southern California along with the Mr. California which were held on the campus of California State University at Long Beach.

The evening sported an “Arabian Nights” theme that was well-received by the audience of over 200 guests, local dignitaries and visiting pageant royalty.

Maryam Ahmadinia, a former Miss Seal Beach, along with Jeremy Buraglia a former Mr. California, who is an Iraq War veteran and an  Orange County Sheriffs Deputy, did the honors as co-emcees of the event.

Joining Brodzinski’s royal court are Melissa Perlstein from Santa Clarita Valley and Jessica Quintero from Lynwood.

Also crowned during the evening were Morgan Sickler, Miss Teen Southern California, a Long Beach resident and a student at Los Alamitos High School; Cecilia Mondoza, Jr. Miss Southern California 2011, From Apple Valley and Bella Kearns, Little Miss Southern California 2011, from Anaheim.

An 18-year-old-student from Gahr High School in Artesia, Knathan Rivera, was named Mr. California 2011 and is joined by his runner up, Efrain Madrigal, an EMT and Firefighter from Orange County.

The Mr. California and Miss Southern California winners participate in local charitable events such as Relay for Life Los Alamitos/Seal Beach, the Special Olympics, the Orange County Food Bank and other events.
