Only three candidates remain in the 2026 District One City Council race.
An Aug. 28 email from Scott Davis, addressed to both the Seal Beach City Clerk and the editor of the Sun, announced Davis was suspending his campaign for the District One City Council seat. A separate email from City Clerk Gloria Harper confirmed receipt of the announcement.
“After careful consideration, I have decided to suspend my campaign for Seal Beach City Council, District One, effective immediately. I will not be seeking election,” Davis wrote.
“I understand that the nomination period has closed and that my name may remain on the ballot. I would appreciate confirmation from the City Clerk about whether any further action is required,” Davis wrote.
“I am sincerely grateful to the residents, friends, and supporters who encouraged me to participate. I have deep respect for Seal Beach, the electoral process, and the other candidates who have chosen to serve our community through this election,” Davis wrote.
“I will not be endorsing any candidate,” Davis wrote.
As of Aug. 18, Davis was in Southeast Asia with limited service, according to a text message from Davis.
Asked if Davis needed to file additional documents with the city of Seal Beach, City Clerk Harper wrote: “No, the email notification is sufficient.”
According to his ballot designation, Davis is a real estate entrepreneur.
