SUMMARY:Beach Cleanup in Seal Beach
DESCRIPTION:Save Our Beach will be conducts a monthly beach clean-up on the 3rd Saturday of each month from 9 a.m. to noon at the beach parking lot at the end of 1st Street in Seal Beach. Parking in the 1st Street Beach lot is free during the clean-up.  Check in at the Blue Canopy on the Grass to receive a parking pass (required). \nPre-registering here will speed up the check in process for you and your family.  Each adult participant must register separately.  Minor children may register on a parent/guardian’s registration. No need to print a ticket\, we will check your pre-registration at our blue canopy! \nClean-ups happen  ‘Rain or Shine’. \nWhen: SATURDAY\, Nov. 13; 9 a.m. – noon \nWhere: 1st St. Parking Lot (15 First Street) Seal Beach\, CA 90740 \nThis is a one-time only change in date due to a conflict with the 1st St. parking lot during our normal beach cleanup. The cleanup is one week earlier this month only. We apologize for any inconvenience. \nPre-registration please! Registration \nPlease wear your mask up to the registration table (it may then be removed) \nWe will provide: garden gloves\, pickers\, bags\, and free parking (please ask!) \nVANS certificate contest is back on! Fill out your ticket to possibly win a VANS certificate!! \nSaveOurBeach t-shirts and caps ($15) and zipup sweatshirts ($30) are for sale at our cleanups. Purchase of these apparel items help raise funds for SaveOurBeach\, a non-profit organization run by volunteers.

DESCRIPTION:Hike into the history of Los Cerritos Wetlands on Saturday\, Nov. 6\, from 8 to 10 a.m. During the walk\, naturalists will share about the reintroduction of tides to the wetlands and other upcoming restoration efforts. Bring binoculars\, if you have them\, to view wetlands wildlife. This walk is appropriate for ages 7 and up. Closed toes shoes are required. DESCRIPTION:“Turkey to Israel” is famed Chef Avi Shemtov’s topic for an in-person presentation at the Alpert Jewish Community Center (AJCC) Sunday\, Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. Trained by his father Chef Yona Shemtov\, he will share Israeli and Middle Eastern recipes and stories of his experience as a restaurant owner\, cookbook author\, and food truck owner (Chubby Chickpea Food Truck). \nShemtov aims to popularize middle eastern food and push it to its limits\, exploring the global influences of Israeli cuisine that coincide with the global journey of the Israeli people. \n“We are grateful to be able to host the community at the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Jewish Long Beach Campus and the Alpert JCC as we slowly return to in-person events\,” said Zach Benjamin\, CEO of Jewish Long Beach. “Programming like this that celebrates food and culture is ideal subject matter as we bring the community back together to restore our connections with each other.” \nTickets are $10 per person and should be purchased by Nov. 12.
